3 Picks for Wednesday 5.24

Welcome to The Proposition’s 3 at 3. We had been on the lookout for a simple place to find a few picks a day to build a bankroll, round out some parlays, or attempt to beat any of the handful of prop sites out there, and to do so with as little excess junk as possible.

No analysis paralysis, no needless podcast banter, no endless embedded twitter links, just three picks every afternoon.

Yesterday’s Rapid Rundown: 3-0

W’s: Good to bank under sweep. Caleb Martin continued to light up the box score, topping his 11.5 points line in the first half. Jose Berrios cruised in a win over Tampa Bay, racking up 5 strikeouts in the process (topping the 4.5 line.) Finally, Bobby Miller struck out 5 Braves, surpassing his silly 3.5 line.

L’s: None

Promos to be aware of:

  • PrizePicks currently has a Jokic points prop all the way down to .5, meaning that it is a free square. This appears to be open all the way until Game 1, so we can all take our time on this one.

  • PrizePicks is also running daily hot dog baseball props:

    • Shane McClanahan 4.5 Ks

    • Sandy Alcantara 4.0 Ks

Pick #1: Ben Lively | Over 2.5 Earned Runs (-135)

The Cardinals offense is absolutely scorching right now, and I think in Great American Ballpark against a 31-year old journeyman, it is very likely that they pile up some runs. Lively was actually pretty solid against the Yankees in his first start of the season, getting his first win since all the way back in 2017. I do not think he captures lightning in a bottle again and I could see the Cards chasing him early.

Pick #2: Matthew Boyd | Over 2.5 Earned Runs (-135)

The Tigers’ starter has an ERA of 6.21, and he has given up more than 2.5 earned runs in each of his last four outings. The Kansas City offense has not been good this year, at all, but perhaps they find a way to string together a few runs against a bad pitcher.

Pick #3: Tampa Bay Rays | First 5 Inning Runline (-130)

The Rays just got absolutely clobbered 20-1 by Toronto, but now they turn to their ace pitcher. Shane McClanahan has a First 5 Record of 9-0-1 and the Rays have a First 5 Inning home record of 19-5-2. Tampa has somewhat cooled off from its hot start, but this looks like a nice spot for a bounce back after last night's embarrassment. We need those bats to drive in some early runs off of Kikuchi to cash this ticket, which I think they can while McClanahan holds off Guererro and the rest of the Jays.

Record Year to Date: 49 - 39
